A new travel in Thailand, across Sri Lanka, to see how the “Home for angels” is going on. In Thailand we have to meet 2 persons: the cardinal of Bankok and the bishop of Surat-Thani. In the capital we visited, with Fother Angelo, some slang where poverty is very deep, people live in dwelling, build on piles on bank of the river, and people are very worried because of the river in flood fore seen for the next days; indeed the north Thai’s rains contributed to swell the river that as usually gives a lot of problems to the cities nearby the see, and of course the villages on the bank of the river are the most damaged. The meeting with the cardinal has been very useful, ones again we made sure that the project was effective and we planned in detail its realization. In the land we bought the works of strengthening have already been done because of the marshaland. The house nearby this land were we build has been bought, to make use of a level surface. The money given to Sr. Angela to buy a car for this project have been used for the acquisition of a useful “delivery van-lorry” where in the back an orthopaedic-bed with an air-mettress can stay. Up to now our outlay is € 120.000,00 shared in the following way: 1. € 10.000,00: system, projectual expenses and notarial chargies; 2. € 50.000,00: acquisition of the land; 3. € 36.000,00: acquisition of the bordering estate; 4. € 10.000,00: acquisition of the lorry for Sr. Angela; 5. € 14.000,00: building works realized up to now. More overs we also want to publicly thank the “Comune of Jesolo” that this year too organize, for free, the exhibition of the “Sand’s Cribs”, from 7 of December to 9 of Jenuary, giving the offerings of the several visitor to this activity of the Caritas. Than we moved by domestic fly in the south of Thailand, just in the city of Surat Thani that is the diocesi strucked by the Tsunami, obviously in the esten coast. The bishop give us the following data about diaster appened in the coast of Thailand:
Considering all this we understand that our work is only a drop of hope in a sea of needs, that want in any case give an help for an educational, structural and methodical work for the traumatized or handicappe children. In the same travel we visited the Sri Lanka too, as there was with us an ex collaborator native of this country, who came back after the disaster. He led us along the coast, and showed us some famous touristic places (Galle and Matara) and in this area too we realized the violence of the Tsunami and the difficulties we have to face for the reconstruction and for the re-establish normality. Considering our work in Thailand, we undertaken to support a religious community that help some orphans to attend the school and their first necessity. Obviously the entire project is the result of the work of a lot of people. What we want to point is that such disasters (Tsunami, earthquake in Pakistan) can’t finish with the silence of the mass-media, and can’t be remembered in sad anniversary or in scandal for the management of he helps. It remains a big wound which needs continuous helps in particulary towards the weakest who unfortunately are the children. That’s why in our activities we try to create relationships that can remain even after each single event. Our work is always a tangible help in every problematic situation, in the present and in the past (for istance Kossovo and Romania), trying to bring a little witness of condivision, realizing our limitation.
